About The Program
Crowned Chronicles is a reading and writing group that centers Black/natural hair and Black youth as both readers and authors of their own narratives. Through carefully selected children’s and young adult literature, films, tv episodes, and guided writing prompts, participants engage in biweekly sessions that include shared reading and collaborative writing circles. The program meets at a local library in New York City and culminates in a collective publication that each participant contributes to.
